Black History Month & Chinese New Year 2026

Queen Marsha

Welcome soul family to the first ever intuition & purpose entry!

This past year has been tremendously life altering, from shedding of old ways, beliefs and insights. To now, where we welcome in safety, warmth and gratitude.

Month News & Special Mentions:

  • I wanted to start off by saying Happy Black History Month to all those living, educating, learning and appreciating the real and vast history of black communities.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of national Black history commemorations, which I think fits perfectly with our Chinese New Year celebrations!

  • I wanted to give my love and appreciation to two Black women that changed my life. First being our Trans Queen, Marsha P. Johnson,  who was a ICON to say the least! The “P” in her name stood for “Pay it No Mind” a phrase that became her motto. Without her advocacy for Queer rights through the stonewall uprising and space in organizing the first Gay Pride Parade, I wouldn’t be able to express as freely as I do as a Queer Trans Man in our society. To her we owe a lot of gratitude and admiration in the Queer community so many people benefit from
  • My second mention is Tracy Chapman, a musician and artist who changed the way I felt about music. Growing up as a white kid I did not fully understand “socially conscious lyrics” for I was not living in a society created to silence me as a white individual. From a young age, I knew what she sang about was real, raw and deeply influential. She was the one I learned about “sub cities” from, the one who expressed the fear and pain caused from the white man and government to black communities and People of Colour.

The lyrics that live in my head rent free are;

“They say we’ve fallen through the cracks
Say the system works, but we won’t let it
Help!
Guess they never stop to think
We might not just want handouts
But a way to make an honest living
Living, this ain’t living
Here in subcity, life is hard
We can’t receive any government relief
I’d like to, please, please, give the President my honest regards
For disregarding me.”

To the beautifully talented Tracy, thank you for changing my life and offering me education I was missing as a child and grown man.

This month is a special one, one that offers change and growth for our souls and our collective!

CHINESE NEW YEAR:

  • This week being the Chinese New Year is a special time. It offers a peaceful, but powerful, goodnight and fair well to the snake energy that allowed us to shed, see and experience all we needed to in order for us to launch forward into our future + present endeavors as the horse!

The Chinese new year, know also as the spring festival, Because although its still winter, it represents the beginning’s of spring. This traditional celebration traces back to at least 3,500 years ago and is usually celebrated for fifteen days. The date of the celebrations changes each year as it is based off the lunar calendar. Not like the western Gregorian calendar (which celebrates New Years on January 01) that the government implemented in exchange when they tried to abolish Chinese New Year in 1912. After 1949 Chinese New Year was renamed The spring festival.

l celebrate by honouring ancestors, warding off spirits and educating myself on traditions and practices of cultures I respect and admire.

MOON CYCLES:

  • Talk about new moon in Aquarius y’all!! This time in our moon cycles brings a cosmic reset where the sun and moon align! A time to plant your seeds for introspection, planning and manifesting.

On top of this, there is a solar eclipse.. 0.0 Which astrologers are calling exceptional.. Count me in as shocked.. That’s some powerful energy!!

It is seen as a turning point and clearing of Karmic baggage and offering deep change. It acts as a portal that blocks all old energy from consuming or confusing you.

WEEKLY RITUALS & PRACTICES:

Weekly Rituals & Practices:

So, what will I be doing for this new year?

  • February 16 is the final day of cleaning, resetting and prepping. Time for fun and family celebrations tomorrow and this week.
  • I will be listening to the lovely Lisa and will be washing my hair, sheets, and sweeping today so I don’t wash/sweep away all my luck and fortune tomorrow!
  •  I will eat good, wholesome food, except porridge or congee! As its seen as a “poor” and not wealthy food.

Reflective Questions/ Journal prompts:

  • Question for the day; What are 2 things you are bringing with you this new year? And what are 2 things you are leaving behind?

My answer;  I am bringing forward my strength and courage to push through my last bit of inner and outer change. While leaving behind old patterns of people pleasing and negative self talk tactics, that truly never work anyways 😛
